Dime Bag

I made my first bag the other day. I shopped a local fabric store and found some super cute fabric. I found the pattern online here and thought even a half-ass like me could make this. I was sort of right. I like to wing things if I don't know the rules or if I don't have the right materials or skills. In this case, rules and skills were slightly lacking.

Without further ado, here's close ups of the fabric.

The outer fabric:

The inner lining and straps: Notice anything funny about this fabric. I didn't either at first. Then I noticed the woman smoking a pipe. Wearing a poppy hat, no less. What could she be smoking? Hmmm. We'll never know.

The finished product.

A seamstress I am not. But I made a darn cute bag.

  1. And see, I'm so sleep deprived and migraine-y that I thought you wrote 'poopy hat'.

And I sat here looking for poop.

  6. I, too, adore the fabrics you selected! I'm so jealous, that's the one skill my mother just did not teach me: sewing. *sigh* It looks like a great result!

  8. Good job. Z wants to get the sewing machine out; I say not for another year when we have a bit more space.

  9. Thanks, Dawn. Yes, sewing takes up a lot of space. Between the machine, supplies, ironing board and iron, I filled out dining area!
